Admiral of the Red Lord Sir James Friedline, Baron Neu Odenwaldkreis has been a member of the TRMN since February 2011.
I was introduced to the Honorverse at Shore Leave in 2010 by Captain Jim Kratzer. Having been a long time fan of Tom Clancy and Frederick Forsyth, as well as a science and science fiction buff I found that after reading "On Basilisk Station" I had found all of these things together in one place, I was hooked. I started reading the books as fast as I could find the next volume, and after joining the RMN, I started taking the exams as quickly as they could be corrected and the next exam sent.
I am married to my wonderful wife Gloria, and have 3 sons, a daughter 9 grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. I have been involved in training in one form or another for nearly 50 years. I have taught both in the United States and under contract overseas, mostly in the Caribbean. I have been a paid staff Instructor/Trainer for the American Red Cross in Health and Safety until my retirement for over 25 years, and an additional 10 years as a volunteer. I served for nearly 25 years as the Operations Supervisor for the Baltimore County 9-1-1 system, which included Fire, Police, Sheriffs Department and 9-1-1 itself. Upon retirement I went with Towson University in the Communications Department also instructed the police medical first responder training for the department. Though semi-retired I still teach classes at the University of Maryland in the summer and the Emergency Response Team instructors for Johns Hopkins University. I have been certified by the Maryland Police Training Commission as a police instructor and by the US Department of Justice. I am a volunteer educator for the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, and a member of the STAT the group that sponsors Shore Leave.
