Senior Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Sir Tom Coonradt has been a member of the TRMN since 27 July 2011. Content to stay enlisted he has earned the rating of Master at Arms, the law enforcement wing of the TRMN.
Tom has served as the senior enlisted person assigned to the Saganami Island Naval Academy staff as well as Chief of Staff to the Commandant of the Academy. He has served as the Enlisted Instructor as well as Instructor for the Master at Arms Rating. Tom generally graded between 3 and 7 exams a day and enjoyed his oppertunity to get to know in some small degree every new member as they took their tests.
One of the things Tom loves best about the Honor Harrington series is how the enlisted is so well portrayed and even spotlighted in the books. Unlike other Scifi universes (cough Startrek) the enlisted members of the RMN are portrayed as necessary and vital parts of the Navy. So it is with this Fan Group. He believes the TRMN showcases the enlisted in a positive and respected manner. For this reason his goal is to remain enlisted and show members that it is all right to portray any rank. Not everyone needs to be a Captain or Admiral to have fun, be respected, or to fit in here.
Chief Coonradt's goal is to provide a positive environment for enlisted members of this fan club by making every effort to enhance their fan experience. No matter if this is by assisting them find the best possible rating, or moving on to the Officer ranks. Chief Coonradt also plans to do everything possible to assist the Chapter Commanders and Fleet Commanders in fulfilling their goals and aims. Tom Coonradt has been a fan of Honor Harrington and David Weber for many years. It all started when he found a battered copy of On Basilisks Station at a garage sale for a nickle. Then he was hooked. Tom has read every book published by Weber either as a solo writer or as a collaborative one.
Tom has been involved in Law enforcement his entire professional life, first as a Correctional officer at the Washington State Reformatory in Monroe, then as an Officer for the University of Washington. Now Tom works as a 911 Dispatcher with the City of Seattle, having been medically retired from the UW.
Tom has been a volunteer in the community for 25 years now as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America. In May of 2013 Tom was honored with the Silver Beaver Award for service to youth over an extended period. This is a National award and the highest a scouter can receive from the Council.
Tom is Married to a wonderful woman, Christina who alas has no interest in Science Fiction Reading. Loves a good Sci Fi movie though. He has a 7 year old daughter, Victoria, and a 4 year old son, Derrick, both of whom he plans on "Nerding" up at the first possible convieniance.
